Because using one-time grant money for operational expenses is not a sound financial practice.  We would have to raise the tax rate to accomodate the expenditure. Which is something I think we should do in order to have patrols from Greymoore-Devondale.

But wait...

Out-sourcing does not work well because of the accountability issue.  Having our own would give us much more oversight. 

But wait ... are you saying that we are not getting what we should be getting from LMPD since we do pay Metro taxes too?  Back when we were having the suspicious vehicle problems, I saw LMPD cars in the neighborhood several times a day.  However, I do not see those regular patrols now.  Is there a reason for that?

And one more point, why do the residents themselves not participate in Neighborhood Watch?  Alert neighbors can be very effective in preventing crime while even a police patrol of our own can not be everywhere all the time. 

Tax increase?  Absolutely not as long as tax money is being spent on private property!!!!!!  The only way I would not yell like a scalded dog over a tax hike would be to repeal the Beautification Ordinance or at least amend it to end using tax money on private property.

Repeal Beautification, increase police presence!

Hold on there Mr. pajowm talking about getting more presence from LMPD.  Did I not read that one resident said he has seen LMPD cars run the stop signs?  Not a very good role model is it?
