I took a walk through my lawn which my dog urinates in multiple times a day and noted their were NO brown patches. Now when I had a much smaller yard I had frequent brown patches since my dog had to frequently urinate in the same spots. The point is that occasional urine spread over a vast expanse of available green adjacent to the roads would have minimal impact overall unless the grass was particularly unhealthy to begin with. The more important point regarding the other wild animals that cross our lawns is not that an individual is responsible for their urine but that their urine has no actual impact.
Overall this post and subsequent responses are unneighborly at best and "publicly" outing neighbors in this blog is particularly nasty. The smiling walkers, joggers, and bikers are one of the most welcoming aspects of our neighborhood and I will gladly accept them and their dogs onto my property along with all the other animals that I enjoy to do their business as they see fit because that is the neighborly thing to do.
And if you do feel this strongly otherwise, and I would suspect your opinion regarding dog urine is the exception and not the rule, a small sign stating "no dogs on my lawn" would be appropriate.
Would you care to talk face-to-face with me about my comments rather than "attacking" them from behind a screen name? I'll look you straight in the eyeballs and whole-heartedly stand behind my right to #1 voice my opinion, and #2 set the "ground rules" for MY PRIVATE PROPERTY. Other than that, I refuse to dignify your "neighborly" comments.
