City of Bellemeade

I recently received a rash of emails from residents and non-residents who are using what is apparently a Bellemeade mass or bulk mailing list apparently of all or most Bellemeade residents with email addresses.  When I first received one of those mass mailings months and months ago, I was told that the list was generated by a Bellemeade oficial or former official who put the group address in the "To" line on an email opening it up for use by everyone and anyone. 

Some people prefer to NOT have their email address made available to the world.  Plus, some providers have an INBOX limit and subsequent, and possibly more important, emails are bounced when incoming mail exceeds the limit..  Additionally, mass mailings ofte go into the JUNK MAIL folder and are never seen.  Some providers even axe them, right Mayor?

If you are using bulk emailings, please

     make sure that is ok with your friends and contacts, especially if there are a large  

     number of addresses or any attachments, and then.

     never expose your friends' or contacts' email addresses to others in mass mailings;

     please use the Bcc line.

Please, please, please; please stop sending mass emailings with email addresses in the "To:" or "Cc:" blocks.  And do not click "Reply all" unless you intend to send a reply to everyone in the To and Cc lines.  Please put block or mass mailing groups put in the "Bbc:" line to help keep email addresses private for those of us who prefer it that way.  Thanks.  Larry, could you take the lead on that?  Come on, that isn't that hard...

The email address was not made "Public" 

your email address was in the Bellemeade group because you were a block leader

in the neighborhood watch.  this website is more public than that email was.

If you don't want to be bothered, then why did you sign up to be block watch, and put your email on the list?  if you didn't want to get emails from neighbors?

you can't have it both ways.......You either DO want to know whats going on or you DONT.

Thank you for your input; however, you are either wrong or do not understand the point.  Either way, you are way off base (something unusual for you).

#1:  I created a gmail account to use for the block watch.  I did not use my insightbb address.

#2:  The email addess WAS made public to everyone else on that humongous list because the sender(s) including you put the group in the To or Cc lines.  All you have to do is click on the name and the person's profile comes up.  That is public.

#3:  If you would have taken time to read something CURRENT about email etiquette, you would have seen that one of the things listed is to use the Bcc (blind copy) line for mass mailings out of RESPECT for other people's wishes.
