Several residents have asked what is going on that so many police cars are in Bellemeade?  Your Bellemeade Neighborhood Watch is working closely with Lientenant Alejandro Cabrera and Officer Roger Pickett of LMPD to deal with the increase in break-ins (cars and homes) in our community.  Lt.Cabrera of the LMPD 8th Division is having officers answer calls from Bellemeade which puts several marked and unmarked LMPD cars in the area at all hours.  High profile police presence dissuades criminal activity.  Thank you LMPD!!!

Also, thanks to those several alert residents who got detailed information of vehicles and suspicious persons in the community.  That kind of information is very useful in helping law enforcement apprehend the bad guys.  We need more participation by residents.  Resident awareness has increased astronomically but we still need more participation  Please come the the 7:00 pm, January 31st meeting at Hurstbourne Christian and talk with Lt Cabrera and your  Neighborhood Watch Leaderships Team.  Bring your neighbor.

Please call and thank LMPD.

I will not be able to attend the meeting.  I have however reported car theft to the police.  I have spoken with the detective assigned to my case.  The detective gave me phone numbers to call to report a non-emergency (instead of using 911).  They are 574 - 2111 (downtown) and 574 - 2258 (Middletown).  Just thought I would pass along these numbers.

First of all, I really do appreciate what those residents have done to get neighborhood watch going.  You have done an excellent job despite the bs that some people have been throwing onto the effort. Isn't it a kick in the head the way that the people who belittle and  complain the most do the least to help.  The police presence yesterday and last night was awesome!!!  Thank you.

To in the heavens:  Those numbers are in the phone book. They get thousands of calls daily.

When the man came to my house, he told me to call 911 when something did not look right and let the officers decide if it is an emergency or not since they are more qualified than an untrained person.  Potential emergencies can become full blown while the phone is still ringing at the non-emergency number.  Oh, what kind of car was stolen from you?  I think you live  just around the corner from me and I didn't know a car was stolen on Woodcleft.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean car theft.  I meant theft from my car.  They stole items out of my car.

The detective assigned to my case told me to use those numbers.  I think because I was reporting that my car had items stolen out of it in the middle of the night - so it was not an emergency by the time I reported it.  I wrote them down in a handy place for future reference.
