The Belmont and Villa Heights neighborhoods have joined Mecklenburg County in efforts to reduce gun violence and create a safer community. The effort is called the Parkwood Corridor Safe Neighborhoods Zone - Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). Project Safe Neighborhoods is a comprehensive, strategic approach to reducing gun violence in America. It is a nation-wide commitment to reduce gun crime by networking existing local programs that target gun crime and providing these programs with additional tools necessary to become successful. Leading the charge in our area is the Mecklenburg County Fighting Back organization, which conducts most of the community outreach efforts within the PSN initiative.
