National Night Out was Tuesday, August 1, at Carl Park Community Center, 5400 Meade. Over 75 residents came and enjoyed the pot luck. We spent $167.80 on the barbecue. Our thanks to Elaine Donahue for the Entenmann's bakery supplies. She had to work and couldn't attend and yet she brought over 200 buns to the potluck. Thanks to Gerry Good for the great chili and for the kitchen management. Roger Carter stood by the grill and cooked the hamburgers and hot dogs. Many thanks to Wendy Carter, Sharon Rudden, Sheriss Dojcasny and all the kind people who helped us load and clean up.

Berkeley Yard Sale was Sunday, August 6. We sure needed help!! It was hot and by the time we hauled and set up we were worn out, yet we were without any help for the day. It was over 98 degrees in the sun. We thank all who brought or sent items to sell. We made over $473. Steve Wilner brought us $24 from the sale of scrap iron we put on his truck at the cleanup. With several memberships we deposited $520 dollars. This was our last yard sale. Without help we cannot continue to support or justify the toll on us or our families.

Ours is the only neighborhood association that tries to distribute our newsletter to everyone, member or non-member.

That may have to change. Regis has informed us we will have to pay more for the newsletters. Regis has always been so helpful and paid the cost of printing which is several hundred dollars. We have paid for the paper. The cost to us has been under $25.

We may not be able to print 1600 newsletters to distribute free. Unless our memberships increase.

El Jebel has allowed us to meet without cost, and we have been allowed to bring punch and cookies. They have told us no punch and cookies are to be brought on the premises. El Jebel has provided us with a meeting place since our incorporation in 1991. Our question, do you want us to pay for punch and cookies or have meetings without refreshments??
