Getting people to slow down to 25 MPH is wishful thinking. So, what is the next best thing, keep your kid off the fricking street !

You are so right, it is so annoying to be driving home from work (even at 25 mph!) and have to dodge children playing in the street. Often you must stop for them as they saunter out of your way. They act (I am sure by their parents insistance) like they have a right to be skating/scootering/playing ball etc. right in the middle of the street. And the ones who live in a cul-de-sac treat that as their own personal playgroud. Then those of us with teenaged drivers are terrified that they may not have enough experience to stop safely for a child or pet. Please, use your yards and keep your children from playing in the street!!

Wishful thinking

I am looking for good trail bikes so my kids and I can ride around the back yard. Any suggestions on where I can walk my dog if we need to stay off the street? I should probably sell my stroller since I have no place to walk with my child.

Man oh man, we should all give into those who can't obey the rules. They are right, we are wrong. In this neighborhood kids have no choice but be in the ''fricking'' street. Should we all just stay indoors and play nintendo? If Jimmy wants to go to Johnny's house to play should he ride is bike through the yards to get there?

You are missing the point McFly. We are talking about kids playing in the street, not some 12 year old kid riding his bike or a parent walking a stroller. There is a difference. There comes a time when you can trust your kid to ride a bike in the street, because they are able to make decisions. I've seen kids under two years old playing in the street and you can't inticipate their actions or movements. Would you rather be at the county Morgue, explaining what your kid was doing out on the street ? In a fraction of a second, your whole world can change. Think about that !
