WANT INSURANCE RELIEF?
You are entitled to reductions on your homeowner's insurance policy if you have a Crime Prevention Officer conduct an inspection of your home and you make any necessary adjustments. The items listed below are required to pass the inspection (few homes pass on first inspection so don't worry). 1)exterior doors 1 3/8'' solid core with at least a 1'' throw deadbolt penetrating a metal striking plate 2)Metal doors must be secured by deadbolts as described above 3)Double doors must meet specs above with the inactive door secured by headers and threshold bolts that penetrate metal striking plates (in case of glass w/in 40'' of header & threshold bolts the bolts must be flush mounted on the edge of the door) 4)Sliding glass doors must be secured by secondary locking devices to interlock upper and lower halves and must be secured by deadbolt as described above 5)Dutch doors must have concealed flush-bolt locking devices to interlock upper/lower halves and must be secured by deadbolt lock as described 6)Garage doors are equipped with key operated locking devices, electronic GDOs are key operated devices 7)Windows must be secured by secondary locking devices to include one of the following: screw,wooden dowel, pinning device, key operated locks
Meeting these requirements will make your home eligible for a 5% reduction on your policy and an alarm (contacts on all windows/doors, internal/external sirens, all equip & monitoring station is UL approved) will save an additional 15%.
