Our annual Community Garage Sale will be held in Spring this year. Get your items ready to sell for Friday, May 15th or Saturday, May 16th. The times for the sale will be from 9 AM to 1 PM on both days. Residents may choose to sell on both days or only one day. The dates, times, & location, will be listed in the local paper and the Columbus Dispatch.
Our volunteer contact is Lori Thompson. You may call her @ 478-8469 or Email: LThomp5384@aol.com. Please be sure to leave your name, phone number, address, which days, and any special items to list in the advertisement. Any large items, such as; furniture, cars, etc., would be a good draw to the sale. The deadline date to call for listing items in the paper is May 8th. We will also be providing a community map of all residents participating, so if you want to get listed on the Garage Sale map, please contact Lori by May 12th. This map will be copied and passed out to all participants.
There will be balloons for the mailboxes, and extra signs at street corners, along with our normal Community Garage Sale signs at major intersections to direct traffic. All of this is provided by BWCA and the membership dues that we collect every year. By having a volunteer to coordinate the event, it makes it easy for residents to participate. You don?’t have to put up signs, take down signs or advertise. All of this is done by the BWCA volunteers! Please show your community spirit and participate in our annual community event.
As a community, there are certain safeguards to be aware of on Community Garage Sale days.
Do not block driveways or mailboxes with your cars or allow any of your customers to. Ask that customers move their vehicles if this occurs.
If you are not participating in the Community Garage Sale you should keep your garage door closed. Especially if you are not outside, but even for security reasons you should not get into the habit of leaving your garage door open.
If you have fragile, rare or expensive items be sure they are displayed on a sturdy table and up high out of reach of the little ones.
Make sure to cover any areas of your garage that you will be leaving your Not-For-Sale items or move them out of the sale area.
Keep money and change on your person, via a fanny pack, rather than a cash box. This will safeguard your earnings in case you walk away or turn your head for a moment.
Coordinate with your neighbors, in case you aren?’t available to participate both days. You can take turns selling by combing, and still have your items available BOTH days.
HAPPY SELLING!
