Fourth of July parades have been an annual tradition here in the Northland area for 46 years. I'm very pleased to announce that Columbus' newly appointed Chief of Police Walter L. Distelzweig has agreed to be the Grand Marshal of this year's Parade! (We hope to announce another very special and unique feature of this year's Parade very soon.) Longtime NCC contributor, past president and immediate past treasurer Steve Thompson has agreed to chair this year's Parade Committee.
The 2009 NCC Parade will start near the intersection of Morse and Karl Roads at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 4, and travel 1.7 miles north on Karl Road to its intersection with East Dublin Granville Road (SR-161). The last entry will complete the route at about 12:30 pm This year's Parade will include a military flyover, marching bands, fire and other emergency vehicles and floats and entries from a variety of communities and community organizations throughout Northland.
Unlike some NCC events that require just a handful of dedicated volunteers, the Fourth of July Parade requires a small army to help plan and execute it. We have room for volunteers at every level, of every age, and with virtually every skill and talent, both before the event and on July 4. We hope to involve residents from every part of NCC's 26 square mile service area, in order to reflect that this is truly our Community Parade. We ask that all NCC representatives contact community members and mention the Parade. Please participate in this year's NCC Parade Committee. Interested community members can send email, with questions or to volunteer, to northlandparade2009@myncc.org.
