Inner City Void of City E-Servic

Posted in: CNI-Fondy-N Business

''E-Service'' is another way to communicate via the Internet.

It offers Milwaukeeeans another way of getting information and access to city government through the use of email.

Residential, commercial and light industrial users of the internet can request services from departments of city government and receive an answer via email.

Time is advantage.
Time is money.
Knowledge is power.

Likewise, it allows the citizenry and business owners to express their opinions regarding city issues and services.

LACK ACCESS
The problem here is many if not most of the citizenry in the Neighborhood Strategic Planning areas do not have a computer.

They must rely on the public library system limited resources to train and supply terminals for access.

The public library, though better than nothing, requires access and if the location's hours are not available, it is not used.

Also, e-services are not marketed to the NSP areas - families, churches, day cares, small business, etc.

Alderpersons of the Inner City are quick to mention the use of ''E-Services'', how about putting some teeth into use and awareness.

We must target some of the millions coming into the low, moderate and no income areas for the citizenry access to the world wide web.

Mary Glass/CFNBA has approached Ron Pounds/City of Milwaukee and asked if his department can offer some ideas.

CFNBA BUSINESS LEADERSHIP COUNCIL will take a look at creating Neighborhood Resources Centers and Neighborhood Mini Tech Cafes that allows our residential and small business owners a place to get online with little effort and available most of 24 hours.

We are looking for resources and ideas.
