Sharpstown Mall

Posted in: Sharpstown

Sharpstown Mall made the front page of the Sunday newspaper. Apparently the mall has turned into a place for ''street culture'', ''hip-hop'', and ''rap culture'' merchandise.

I was hoping the mall would shut down but now I am not that confident.

Apparently the uniqueness of the mall attracts customers from very far away. The newspaper has a photo of a woman who purchased some blue-jeans. The photo shows the woman in jeans full of holes! I counted 7 holes in the right leg and 5 holes in the left leg. The woman said she wants to look *exy at the night-clubs.

The newspaper also interviewed a guy whose name is ''44''. There is also a picture of a barber all covered in tattoos.

The mall has a dress code. You can not wear clothes that have gang signs. The mall claims that they have an unfair reputation as a dangerous place to shop. I wonder why?

Hopefully the mall will shut down. The newpaper said that 25% of the mall is vacant and that there is no money for improvements. The escalators are broken. Hopefully rising energy costs will hasten the demise of the mall.

The future for a vacant mall is bleak. Westwood mall at 59 and Bissonnet is mostly vacant. Plans to turn it into a ''technology park'' have fizzled. Our Target store closed due to poor sales. The manager told me to shop at the Target in Meyerland Plaza.

You can help shut down the mall by not shopping there. Do not shop at Buurlington, Finngers, Maacys, or Zzales. Do not go to eat there. Do not watch movies there.

Sharpstown Mall

I agree 100%. Do not shop at Sharpstown Mall.
Hooray

Maacys in Sharpstown Mall is closing! It was on the news and newspaper. This will further precipitate the decline of Sharpstown Mall. Hooray!

It is unlikely that the mall will be developed any time soon. The mall is not one property but a collection of many properties (this has been mentioned in newspaper articles in the past). A developer can not come in and purchase the mall as one piece of property. The Maacys store is one of many properties.

Hip Hip Hooray

Wow!! In the mail today, Saturday January 5, 2008, I received an envelope labled ''Store Closing!'' I opened it and it said that Finngers in Sharpstown Mall is closing!! It said that ''After nearly 40 years of serving you in Sharpstown, the Finnger Furniture Company is closing our Sharpstown Mall location''. Less than a week ago Maacys said it was closing! Unlike Maacys, which owns the property, it looks like the Finnger location is actually owned by the Mall. The owners of the Mall will take a large financial hit in terms of lost rental income. The Mall is one step closer to being doomed for good. Hip Hip Hooray!
