Boy Scout Troop #318

I was wondering if anybody noticed that in the past two years that we have a new publisher of OUR TOWN NEWSPAPER - that prices have gawn up considerable and our garage sale ad's have almost DOUDLED in price and we nothing in return. To say: Garage Sale,address, date and time was $6.69 for ONE Day with $1.34 additional lines - NOW to say that it is $13.38 for ONE day and OUTRAGEOUS prices if you add anything else. We are having these sale's to make some money to help make thing a little better in our present situations and it seems that somebody else wants a cut. We need to find away to get some satisfaction for this little set back. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know. Thank you.

Advertising Cost Increases

I did not know that garage sale ads have increased in cost, however I have noticed over the past five years advertising costs for commercial advertising space has increased from 4 to 5% every year. JR price increases are almost like death and taxes, you can always count on them.

I know the cost for newsprint paper has been pretty stable or declining over the last year. Maybe the cost for employees are going up.

If we can get more people using Neighborhood Link (NL), then posting a garage sale ad in it would be good advertising and it would be totally FREE.

Spread the word about NL.

There is an alternative

I choose to not make a comment on the price of garage sale ads in the Journal Review. I do however want to point out that there is an alternative and/or supplement to placing a garage sale ad there. This is to post your garage sale on the NeighborhoodLink site. It is free. You would go to the Classified Ads section which is found on the right side of the NeighborhoodLink.com/Crawfordsville site and then post an ad under Notices - Garage Sales. You will need to register on the site and receive a password if you have not already done so. Why not try it out and pass the message on to your friends and neighbors.
