Town of Braintree

Five get big bonuses when the Commission refused to give the employee that took over for McGrath one. I thought that the Commissioners we voted for only had that power.

New General Manager Didn't?

get a bonus himself? He was quoted in the newspaper as saying he eliminated the practice of awarding longevity to his division heads in place of the bonuses? Well, I know at least two division heads hired at BELD who wouldn't have qualified for longevity (usually after l0 or more years on the job before eligible)but they were handed pre-Christmas bonuses instead for ''doing their job within budget''?
My question: Why do we give bonuses to people we pay handsomely (and BELD employees are the by far highest paid employees in town top to bottom bar none)in the first place to perform a job? What is their good salary to expect? When they achieve super results over and above what's expected, well that might be different?
Who's money is being GIVEN away? It's ours, the ratepayers! Now, will our spineless Selectmen order a procedural investigation of BELD? No other town employees get bonuses or are even eligible for bonuses, so why BELD?

What the hack is going on? Every department can now give themselves a raise? That's robbery. I wish I can do the same at my work.
