Just got our bill too; THO are you my neighbor? Our assessment went up l6% affecting an increase in our bill of about 2% or $54.50 for the year. The town is mandated by the 'State' to stay within l0% of fair market value and since this is not a reval year I can only assume they are taking each individual property on a case-by-case basis. THO, you must be sitting in a newer house than mine, one assessed more recently for it's true value. Or maybe a neighborhood where there isn't a lot of sales activity happening. Unfortunately for us our neighborhood is turning over and there are sales aplenty, they have our number.

the valuation is supposedly based on what you could sell your house for.
They, the town, feels that they should share in your profits. after consider all that they have done for you!
