townie/tho is so quick to defend all budget expenditure and all things
relevant to spending the towns money.
He behaves like someone with vested interest in the town spending more and not asking for details. just like a town employee with his hand out. For a raise.

Budgets are done in public

I don't know if it was Shaw or Egan that suggested the full day to deal with budgets but this happened again last year and is scheduled for this year too.

It was a good idea because our Selectmen are able to focus on the entire budgeting process in one day and not over four or five weeks of Monday nights.

The meetings are public meetings and residents are welcome to participate, like all town meetings.

All departments are being asked to provide a level services budget this year, which means that their budget should not have any growth other than adjustments for the cost of doing the same level of service that they are providing now.

Instead of sitting in you nice warm home and complaining about the finance committee,why don't you contact the moderator an do the unthinkable and volunteer for a position on the finance committee. We have not had a full compliment of people in many years, (why is that), because noone will step forward and volunteer to spend one or two nights a week for the three months before town meeting.
