I agree. I'm a town meeting member and I would like to see all the budgets get voted down but that's not going to solve any problems is it? No one has the b***s to ask questions. I sat there one year and every budget passed with no questions asked. Then a warrant was brought up to raise something from $25 dollars to $50 dollars and we argued for 45 minutes over whether it was a tax or a fee. No one, no one is ever going to go up against the town unions and their budgets. Because if anyone does it's political suicide. The biggest part of the problem with the teachers union is their union president. If Mr. Kramer brought his act to town meeting to argue for their contract, he wouldn't get one vote. Do you think he could tell tm that it is their duty to pass overrides? He did that to the school committee at one of their meetings. He demanded that the sc members push for overrides so his colleagues could get what they deserve. He uses the word demand quite a bit. One thing to keep in mind, the school committee recommends, town meeting pays the bills. If town meeting says no, then the funding is not there. That goes for all the contracts in town. So Bebe, instead of telling people to open their wallets, why not take out papers for town meeting and run. We could use your wisdom and your ability to put people in their place. The unions will love you. Come join us in May for 2 or 3 weeks of fun.
