Town of Braintree

Leadership

No way Jose

There is no amount of money on this
earth that would get me to run
for any office. Not in this
poisonous atmosphere.

I do plan to do something in the next
election. I'll vote all the bums
out, vote against any tax increases.

>(1)You say ''I still have seen no >proof that the town needs money.'' >Fair enough, but in almost the same >breath you say you'll never believe >town officials, even if they do offer >such proof. How do you reconcile this?

Easy. If the town really needs money
bring in irrefuteable proof. Get
Howie Carr/Barbara Anderson/CLT to
look at the town and concur that this
town is so efficient so well run that
it should get a tax increase.

If the town needs money i'm not going to take word of xxxxxxx elected official, his campaign staff, or
someone on this board who wants
a tax increase so they can retain
their cushy hack job.

Besides the town got their prop 2 1/2
override last year.....no they didn't call it that, they called it a trash fee but it amounts to the same thing.

>You could say you do not trust >politicians and their motives, but you >cannot base distrust on the fact that >they were elected - the alternative >would leave residents absolutely no >say in who runs the town.
I like the idea people are elected. My
problem is with the lying, the idea that you have to sell your soul to raise money, all the mud being thrown,
and the generally poisonous atmosphere.

>Ego, sure. Money, be realistic!
They are doing it for the money. The money they will make (millions) when
they get elected governor in a few
short years.

Nobody ''wants'' to be selectmen, it's
a stepping stone to higher office.

They don't care one iota about this
town. They are running for higher office.

>And in terms of power, again, think >outside the box.
If these people weren't power hungry they wouldn't be doing stuff like
shoving higher taxes down our throats.
Power is the ulitmate aphrodisiac.

I've noticed after living in many
cities/towns the smaller the town
the more elected officials toss their
power around.

In every city/town i've lived in there
is lots of corruption.

(One city I lived in if you wanted
a license for xxxxxx you had to donate
money to the local chapter of the xxxxx political party).
