Briar Ridge Homeowners' Association, Filing 2

Neighborhood Watch

Feb 02, 2004

After the homeowners meeting in October, it became apparent that we are no longer in compliance with the 75% participation rule of the Watch Program. There are new residents in several homes and they are currently not enrolled. So I will be contacting those people as well as those of you who have not taken part in the past. If you are interested about joining before I call you, please contact me at (303)797-7329 and I will get to you as soon as possible. It is important to keep our membership up to date and to have contact with the police department. Some of you have expressed concern about giving out your social security number. I will be glad to help you put together a personal number that would be easy to remember and enable you to fill out the paperwork. Thanks for your cooperation.

Even though the Neighborhood Watch is a program that encourages cooperation with the police department, it is also a way to protect your property with the help of your neighbors. Always let a least one person around your home know you will be away for any length of time. Have them pick up the newspapers and mail if you do not want to cancel them. Try to leave on some lights in the house or get some timers to turn them on. A radio playing can give the impression of occupancy. And on the other side of the diligence, get to know your neighbor?’s cars and have an idea of their comings and goings. If you see a strange vehicle in the driveway and have not been told to expect it, call the police to investigate. Being vigilant is a part of being a good neighbor. Let's all help to keep this a safe place to live.
