Does any one know how one get a farmers market started? I think Woodlawn would be a great place for one....

Sorry to be so tardy in responding to your querie.  I began this site in 2004 and continue to monitor it, but the national network that serves this site has changed it in the last few months and I'm just getting caught up.

We tried to do a market in 2004, when I was neighborhood assoc. president.  It lasted several months, but didn't succeed for several reasons, and nothing has been attempted since.  It really is a HUGE endeavor and I would suggest you contact the people at Portland Farmers Markets and Hollywood Farmers Market to get an idea of what is required in the way of licenses, insurance, etc. Also, you can contact the current association board at gowoodlawn.com (website).  Frankly, I doubt they will be of much help.  And, I'm not sure it's the best idea for Woodlawn at this time (not being negative, just practical).
