We have to do better............

Posted in: Cambridge
As a community we have failed these kids in so many ways. I sit on my porch and I watch as these kids continue to destroy Cambridge. The problem is there are too many parents that allow the children to run wild without a clue as to where the kids are or what they are doing. Cars in the middle of the street talking to kids sitting on the side of the road in large groups(Doing NOTHING)refusing to move. Then the parents say ''WEll they are not bothering anyone''. It bothers me when i see nice people looking for a home but, refuse to move here because they come over here and see nothing but a bunch of thugs running the streets. ''Short Story'' I watched a young man walking down the street with his pants almost falling off his butt. He had on no shirt and was smoking. This young man walked the whole neighborhood like that until he got to his street. When he got to his street, Up Came the Pants, On went the shirt, Out went the Cigar. So I know the kids have respect they just dont respect this neighborhood and other people. He didnt allow his parents to see him like that. I spoke with that same boys parents. I was called Nosey and told that their son ''Does Not Smoke! I promise you. If we make the parents responsible for the kids that THEY have. This could be a better place to live.
We have to do better

I absolutely agree. And the unfortunate part is, that the parents say, ''If my child does something, come tell me about it, don't call the law'', but if you do tell them, you will get the same response that you received when you went to this young mans parents. Well... a picture tells a thousand words, so lets get the little angels on film. Maybe then, these parents will believe what they see.

Its not that we necessarily blame the parent, sometimes they honestly don't know. Sometimes they are doing their best to raise their child right. But, kids are going to be kids, and they are going to hide things from their parents. What would this same parent think if their child was picked up for breaking the law, and we as their neighbors knew that their child was doing these things, and never mentioned a word to them. Have we done them a service by keeping our mouth shut? By minding our own business? By not caring what happens to their child because he isn't our problem? I don't think so. Its not the Christian thing to do. Instead of being insulted, the parent should be thankful that someone cares enough to make them aware that their child is heading down the wrong path, or running with the wrong crowd.

The only way we can help each other if we are willing to reach out and offer a hand, or reach out to take one. Stop feeling attacked if someone tells you what is happening. Its your investment too, not only in your home and property, but in your family.

Blessings to all!
