I usually go to the HEB at Nacogdoches & New Braunfels (the "OPB"), because I know the layout and they have more of what I want. The Thousand Oaks HEB is fine, too, and easier to get to. I use CVS up the street for prescriptions because it's on my insurance (thank goodness we have some) and you can order online.
Oak Grove is as good a school as Every Child Left Behind allows it to be. Teachers and staff and caring. If you have a problem, they're more than willing to listen and do their best to help within the constraints the stupid laws allow. I requested a meeting last year, and five staff, teachers and admin. people all sat down with me to discuss how to help -- very, very kind and caring people.
Unfortunately, ASL (American Sign Language) students will not be at Oak Grove next year -- the ASL program for hearing impaired students added a wonderful dimension to my kids' learning at Oak Grove. There is a choir for 4-5 graders that's great -- Mrs. Murphy is fantastic. I believe there's a Young Astronaut program that focuses on science. There's no Chess Club, Foreign Language Club, or other clubs that I'm aware of, unlike other elementary schools. Tutoring in math and reading is available after, and sometimes before, school. There's an ESL program for students who don't have English as their primary language.
We are on the bus route, and the same driver has been on our route since we've lived here. She's very kind, but firm. She is also willing to ask the district for new bus stops, if needed. There was also a late bus last year, and a bus for half-day Kindergarteners.
The school supply list is about the same as others. Oak Grove keeps some backpacks fully loaded with supplies for the year for families who aren't able to provide them -- ask at the office or check with your child's teacher. Items like winter coats are also available for those who need them.
