The dead end street has been closed off for over 10 years. It originally was another entrance to Towne Lake but was closed because it was the favorite entrance for burglars and vandals. Its sole purpose on our side (as far as I can tell) is to provide entrance to the vacant lot behind the 2 houses at its beginning (or end) at Lake Path Drive. Apparently it has been used for a long time by hunters who are too lazy to go to the adjacent subdivision and enter by the open double gates. Towne Lake residents have thrown their junk over the fence for many years.
This is totally a Towne Lake problem. Our residents (and/or invitees) trash it and destroy the fences (both wooden and chainlink). The lot was cleaned up two years ago by several older women: the Board had a scrub tree removed, the damaged board fence repaired, and "No Trespassing" signs put up. This spring after it was posted I chased six boys away--they were busy with shovels and spades building themselves ramps for bikes and skateboards. They thought the posted signs were for the people living inside the fences! They gave up their project, but the lot is now bumpy and full of holes--impossible to mow with a mower. A kind person has cut the grass and weeds down to stubble which is now very dry, but to me a big improvement over the three-foot-tall weeds of previous years.
For several weeks I have picked up Marlboro cigarette packages (empty). Today I noticed a cigarette tossed in the dried grass while it was still lit. I don't know the answer to this situation; I wish I did. I am going to save some of the cigarettes tossed in this area.
