In the morning when I go to work, the "in" gate is open but the exit gate is not which necessitates the stop and wait.  Is there a logic for this?  I'm wondering why both gates can't be open during peak entry and exit times.

The reason the entrance gate is open in the morning and late afternoon, is for the school busses. The exit gate does not need to be opened for the busses.

That still doesn't address the "Why can't the exit gate be left open in the morning" question.

The point of my question is this:  the "in" gate being open in the morning and other times has to save wear and tear on the appratus mechanisms.  It would seem logical to me that if both gates were open for the peak times that people are coming and going, even more wear and tear could be eliminated rather than the constant opening and closing.
