Broadview Farms Neighborhood Association
BFNA Meeting Minutes
Thursday, September 14, 2006
First Christian Church
6031 Goodrich Dr.
The meeting was called to order at
7:35p.m. by Ronda Yoder, President Elect, who welcomed members and guests. The
first item of business was the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting
from August. Penny Bolyard made a motion to accept the minutes, and George
Olliff seconded it. The minutes
were accepted as read. Joe Flynn
gave the financial report of $660 in the bank.
City Council candidate Paul Young
presented his agenda for his election campaign. Lee
Smith reported on the progress of traffic issues in the neighborhood and gave
the results of a traffic study done in the area in 2004-2005. He noted that the city is planning to
put an ?“All Way?” stop sign at the intersection of College Parkway and
Langley. Upon completion of the
library, it will become a ?“4-way?” stop, and possibly a traffic light. Large warning signs will be placed in
advance of the intersection warning motorists to stop ahead. The signs should be installed before
Christmas.
Old business: The application for the entrance signs
was delivered to the city on August 24 by Joe Flynn. The City Council will give the application a technical review
at its September meeting and a final approval/disapproval at its October
meeting. The project will need to
be completed within one year of the final approval date.
New business: This was the
month for elections of new officers for the Association. Ronda Yoder read the duties of each
officer and opened the floor for nominations and volunteers. Carole Davis volunteered to be
President-elect; Mindy Besch –Secretary, Joe Flynn-Treasurer; George
Olliff, Sybil Anthony, and Jeanette Norman -Members-at large. With no additional nominations or
volunteers, these were elected by default. Ronda Yoder moved from President-elect to President.
The proposal to change the
By-laws regarding the frequency of the association meetings was tabled until
the October meeting. Audrey Taylor
announced the ?“round-up?” being held at Washington High School on Saturday,
September 16. George
announced he received a nice thank you note from the church for the coffee we
donated to them. Joe Flynn made a
motion that we waive the membership dues for the church because of all their
help to the Association. Sybil
seconded the motion. A vote was
taken and passed unamiously.
Carole made a motion to adjourn the
meeting, and George seconded it.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Bob Yoder, Secretary
