Broadview Farms Neighborhood Association
Board Meeting Minutes
Tuesday January 9, 2006
Mindy Besch?’s Home
1090 Langley Ave
The meeting called to order at 6:35p.m., By Ronda Yoder, President of BFNA. Board members present were Ronda Yoder, Mindy Besch, Sybil Anthony, Joe Flynn, and George Olliff. Jeanette Norman and Carole Davis were unable to attend. First order of business was the reading of the minutes from December Board Meeting. Joe Flynn motioned to have the minutes accepted and George Olliff second the motion. Joe Flynn gave a financial report of $1,045 presently in the bank. Received $20 for membership fees from Mr. & Mrs. Barker, which at the current time has not been deposited.
Old Business:
Joe Flynn stated that there is a discrepancy on the placement of the neighborhood sign at the end of Langley towards Davis Hwy. The sign is required to come back 30 ft from the curb. The issue at hand is that there is a Crepe Myrtle in this location and we need to find out if the crepe myrtle in fact is moveable or if they will wave the requirement.
Joe announced that he has to go out of town for three weeks and needed someone to volunteer to oversee the progress for the Neighborhood sign. He needs someone to follow up with contractors that submitted estimates and to narrow down the field and choose a contractor best suited for the job.
New Business: A suggestion was made to have ?“Reminder Notices?” made to send out to members of the Neighborhood that have not renewed their dues. Another purpose of the reminder is to encourage them to remain a member of Broadview Neighborhood Association.
Sidewalks: Ed Morrison, which is the supervisor on the sidewalk project, has been asked to speak at our monthly meeting Thursday night. The purpose of having him speak is to give an update on the progress of the sidewalks and to address any concerns members might have.
Neighborhood Yard Signs: Ronda also suggested we again consider the purchase of some yard signs (around 20) to announce our monthly neighborhood meetings. The signs will be placed around the neighborhood for members to see as a reminder of the meeting each month then would be removed and saved for the next month.
Group Clean-Up ?– The floor was opened for discussion about coordinating one Saturday a month to work on Volunteer hours. Each month a section of the neighborhood will be chosen for clean up. The first Clean-up?’s scheduled for January 20 at 8am which will take place at the park.
Library Update: The Architect selected was Strobel & Hunter. Once they have the plans drawn up (which will take several months) they will then open it up for construction bidding. We hope that they will be able to break ground in August.
With no further business, Joe Flynn made the motion to adjourn the meeting and George Olliff seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Mindy Besch, Secretary
