Yesterday, Wednesday 08-06-08, my wife and I observed a RAT in our back yard. It is nesting under our neighbor's back yard patio porch. We observed this rodent taking pieces of bread I had thrown out earlier for the birds and returning to it's nest next store. This morning while in my back yard as I was cutting grass and doing other yard work a RAT was seen twice under my bird feeders eating seed that has droped on the ground. Needless to say I have cleaned out my bird feeders, cleaned up, as best I could all the seed that was on the ground and threw it in the garbage can. Everyone in our city should be advised if you have a dog that you should clean up any fecal matter that your dog deposits. Dog Poop is a favorite food for RATS, and I was also told that pet owners should never leave pet food out because this attracts rodents.
Metro Louisville Rodent Control has been contacted by me and my neighbor and hopefully they will respond soon or I will call in a professional to get rid of this problem.
I hope no one else in our city is having this problem, and if you do please call Metro Louisville at telephone number 311 and adivse them immediately of the problem. Hopefully this will not be a problem that our city will have to endure because of all the road construction that is going on around us. If anyone has heard of problems with RATS in our area please come to our next council meeting on Monday August 18, 2008 at 7:30 pm at our City Hall. If you cannot come please respond to this notice.
