Rob when I tell people if they have a complaint to come to the Council Meetings my intentions is to get more people in our city involved. If you will notice last month I posted, Elections, the dates when citizens could file to run for state wide office including the election for our city council.  Since I ran in 2004,06 & 08  there have been only six candidates who have filed to run for one of the six council positions.  I have stated privately to friends and family that I believe there should be term limits for elected officials, the bad things is  in most small cities like ours a very small percentage are involved in the government.  Again this year  we have only six candidates for the six council positions.  I  understand that there are time constraints and a lot of people cannot come to the meeting because of business and family matters.  To be honest I started to attend the council meetings after I retired because I was usually working or had other commtment and could not attend the meetings.

As I have said earlier if you want to call me at home I will be more then glad to discuss your concerns.

Rob,

I read your post with interest.  I too have had a similar situation.  It started with the dog of a former council member.  Then a fence request that was denied.  Then a recent incident where I was told "I should know what my neighbors think of me."  I don't know my neighbors so I don't think they think anything of me unless someone has gossiped. The similarlities are uncanny.

Ms. Trimble: Did you have a thread here a while back in which you complained about a dog barking day and night, perhaps because it is lonely? And your complaints were generally ignored? From what I can piece together, we may indeed be talking about the same folks.

Their brother-in-law (or so I've been told), a city official, ignored my requests for a fence permit for months. Then when he finally came to talk with me about the permit, he had an arguementative attitude from the moment I opened my door. To be fair, the ordinance governing fence permits was clear, and he was enforcing it to the letter, but he did it with a very aggresive, arguementative attitude. Furthermore, the day my fence guys finished building my fence,  I found out from Mike Brown that an ordinance had been passed the night before allowing 70 foot spans. Was I informed that this was in the works? Of course not. It would have been very easy for the mayor to have informed me that a change in the ordinance was being considered, but instead, allowed me to build my silly looking fence. The whole thing is highly suspicious to me.

WOW! I did not mean to start WW3 .I was just showing concern for my neighbor ,But those issues have been addressed.I will never post any thing again,If this will happen.I like living here and I don"t have any issues with anyone and no one is  making me say this. From time to time there will be problems, but the important thing is to keep a clear mind to see all sides of the issue, and that wil be the last I say on the matter. As my Daddy always said if you keep poking at a pile of dog poo it will keep smelling if you leave it alone it will dry up,crude but true.
