So what is with the cheap shots ? Are they really warranted, especially from you since you don't seem to want to take an active role in city government, other than carping all the time. Run for an office maybe or take on some form of committee work....maybe ethics might be your interest since you think it needs to be more than a token thing.  Frankly you posted comments this time ?????

Yes, I indeed am the new candidate. The cbs in my screen name = my initials.

I finally got into a normal job where I am off on council nights. I would have run for office sooner, but things never quite fell into place until this year.

The surprising thing for me in this election is, in a city of over 1000 residents, only 6 were willing to even put their name in for the election, so no one is being contested.

Here is a bit of information about me:

Age: 31

Marital Status: Married 6 1/2 years, with a 2 1/2 year old son.

Education: Computer Information Technology degree - Sullivan University

Profession: Network Engineer II

I've been a resident of Woodlawn Park since June 2004. I am a strong proponent of public safety, having worked as a 911 dispatcher for six years. I believe in a fiscally responsible, yet responsive government structure.

If anyone has any specific questions to ask of me, you can email me at christianseidt@insightbb.com

I went to the County Clerk website suggested by oboylistenup and found it very helpful. I was impressed with the list of folks wishing to be on the council. I did not know who Christian Seidt was, but now I do.

Woodman: we already had this discussion about me serving on the council. I explained myself and won't do it again. Please be aware that your redundancy may make it seem as though you may not really have anything worthwhile to say (though I'm sure you do). I'm guessing you probably care about your neighborhood and the civic minded persons who unselfishly serve on the council and therefore mean to defend them. But the way you do it... My impulse is to just simply ignore you and not respond to you... but I'm on here wishing to meet folks, learn something, express myself, and participate in a way that my responsibilities and schedule allow. I think if we did not have the anonymity of an electronic screen between us we would get along much better. So, how about you allow me to be as big a jerk as I want to be, and I'll always treat you with respect. Deal?

See, here's the thing... If I were on the city council, I think anyone would have the perfect right to complain about decisions I participated in, stands I took, etc. They could call me and complain, they could show up at council meetings and complain, they could complain to their neighbor as they talk over the fence, they could complain while having coffee at their neighbors kitchen table. That' it... think of this web site as a kitchen table or a shady spot at the fence where you and I and anyone else can talk, complain, and share with our neighbors.

Also, where did this notion come that citizens shouldn't complain about their government, shouldn't question authority, shouldn't expect their representatives to be accountable. That's been a ugly and very tragic recent trend in our Federal government for the past few years. I cringe to think it has trickled down to such a small basic level as a tiny class 6 city. (is that right, anyone, class 6???)
