On December 22, 2008 between 8:30am and 2:30pm there was a Home Burglary in the area of Walser and Kinloch.  The burglars entered the home through the rear door, taking several items plus jewelry.  Later in the evening the victim called me and gave me information about a suspicious van her daughter has seen in the neighborhood recently.

If anyone in our city sees any cars, vans, trucks, etc. and/or any people that they observe acting in a suspicious manner please call our Police Chief and give him the description of the vehicle, including license plate if possible, and any description of any suspicious individuals.  If you cannot get in touch with Chief Carter call anyone of our Block Watch Captains and give them the information.  Of course if you see or observe a crime being committed call the Police right away.

If anyone reads the newspaper our Metro. Police Department is approximately 100 Officers understaffed.  This number does not count the number of Officers that are put on administrative leave if they are involved in the death of a Criminal Suspect.  In just the last week Nine (9) Police Officers were put on paid leave.  In short the entire Metro area is short over 100 Officers that we know of and that does not count the Officers on paid leave that never gets in the Courier Journal.

In short everyone please try to be observant of what is going on in our City, especially during the holidays where traditionally Robberies and Home Burglaries are up.

In a hurry I forgot to sign my name to the above article about a BURGLARY in our City.

George Langford-Councilman

December 23, 2008

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police are going back to the drawing board to find who is breaking into homes in the east end and stealing purses and money.

Police thought they cracked the case when two men were arrested earlier this year, but the break-ins have continued.

Detectives say 49 houses have been hit in the Brownsboro and Westport Road area.

If you see someone acting suspiciously in those areas, you are asked to call the crime tipline at 574-LMPD (574-5673).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While these break-ins in the article have been occuring further east near Goose Creek Road, it is possible that these guys have changed their target area as police presence near GC has increased.

George, do we know approximately when this break-in occured?

Signed - Chris Seidt - Councilman

Please see the posting in Break-ins (Dec. 4th) regarding the link to www.louisvilleky.gov/MetroPolice and the interactive map that is available.  It is updated every three days.

Residents can enter a specific address and see any activity around WP (make sure once the map is pulled up to click on "Crime Level" the bottom of the screen).

It is a very informative tool.
