Shirley Hill, our neighborhood association president, received this award in 2006. Her nomination says --- Shirley goes out of her way to help and understand the needs of her neighbors. She is always willing to listen to neighbors and cares very much about them. They care about her as well. When there is a death in the family, they know Shirley will visit at the funeral home and share their grief. When neighbors have questions or concerns they know they can call Shirley at home. She is there working for her neighbors and neighborhood and ?“seems to be a full time volunteer?” with lots of time commitment.

We know that Shirley did not want us to mention this award. The joy is in the doing for her. She would never want to blow her own horn. Still, we think you should know about her committment and think of others who might also deserve this award.
