I live in the Bungalows and have for over 10 years. In a few weeks they are scheduled to completely repave our glass smooth streets. Not a simply slurry coat mind you, but a complete tearup and repave that's going to cost nearly a half million dollars. I had a conversation with a lady from Crown Management who said that they receive recommendations and based on these recommendations, our streets should have been repaved 10 years ago. Who made the original recommendation, a contractor who stands to directly profit from the work?
Our streets are smooth as glass. There are no potholes whatsoever. They'd be the envy of most anybody else who live in LA County. The City of LA would kill to have our streets. There are some microscopic cracks that could easily, and much more cheaply be slurry coated.
This is a criminal waste of our HOA reserves and makes me worry that when the time comes that we have a real problem, we will lack sufficient funds without an assessment over and above our normal HOA dues to cover the costs.
I suspect somebody on the board is making money on this on this wasteful debacle as there is no other reason that I can think of why we would be paving perfectly good streets. Somebody is profitting thinking we won't notice.
