COMMUNITY PLANNING COUNCIL #10
Item I ?– REFRESHMENTS
CAMPAIGN NEIGHBORHOOD - CFNBA will provide ?“complimentary refreshments?” for the balance of the year for CPC-10 monthly meetings. We would like to hear from you regarding suggestions and to get a count of possible ?“Veggie?” eaters.
Item II ?– REPORT ?– RAFIK IMSEITEF ?– Warehouse Electonics
At the March meeting, Mr. Richard Quarles ?– Phyllis Wheatley Neighborhood Association asked about Warehouse Electronics at 1400 W. North Avenue.
Report: Rafik Iseitef is a member of CFNBA and is the Co/Chair ?– Special Events. He has been asked to be present to speak on behalf of his business and share his plans of expansion. For the record, his expansion includes:
Painting and Siding of Exterior
Opening of Windows
Landscaping and Signage
Parking Lot Repairs
FIVE (5) FAMILY SUPPORTING JOBS for the neighborhood @ $8.00 per hour.
CFNBA is working with Mr. Iseitef to recruit employees and for rehab guidelines per CFNBA Image Building Code (see attachment).
ITEM III - CFNBA RECOMMENDATION ?– AMENDED BYLAW ?– OFFICERS OF THE CLUB
ARTICLE V ?– Officers of the Club
The officers shall consist of President, Vice-President Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Recording Secretary, Treasurer, and the Historian. Each officer shall be elected for a term of two (2) years. To be considered a candidate for any office, one must be a member in good standing and have attended six (6) meetings in the past year.

Rationale:
Recently, Tish Robinson submitted her name for the position of: Vice President Elect. She was told that her could not be considered due to:
?“To be considered a candidate for any office, one must be a member in good standing and have attended six (6) meetings in the past year.
At the present time this office is VACANT. We are about to enter the fifth month of the year. Ms. Tish Robinson, Property Owner, Business Owner, Wife and parent has stepped up to the plate and want to serve. She brings excitement, energy, commitment and resources of her personal network and her church to the table. Her passion is the care of our children.
The change would provide ?“flexibility?” and allow for more engagement that is not so ?“restrictive?”. It is also more in-line with the inclusiveness, the age of the organization, neighborhood engagement and mostly attracting individuals to serve.
The number three (3) coincides with the language of the Vice-President Elect office:
The vice-president elect shall preside over a minimum of three (3) meetings per year and attend a minimum of three (3) per year during his or her time as vice-president elect.
Item IIII - CFNBA BUSINESS LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
On April 13, 2005, CFNBA Monthly Meeting, CFNBA introduced:
COMMON CAUSE/PUBLIC TRUST
This is the public forum each month given to entrepreneurs and business organizations who want endorsement and/or support from CFNBA Business Leadership Council regarding efforts dealing with city/state/national government. It also a forum for neighborhood Initiatives, public policy and public trust discussion and action.
This month?’s presenters were:

Bonnie Jackson ?– Arms Around Amani Neighborhood Association.

Highlights:
Kick-off of CFNBA Block-to-Block Neighborhood Consultants Group. This is a volunteer group of Block Club Captains and/or Organizers with at least one year of experience. This recruit and orientation session is for those individuals that meet the criteria and want to start-up in the first group. You can sign-up now. We want committed individuals from the neighborhoods. The consultants will receive a Leadership in Training Certificate and will be referred to the CFNBA Speaker?’s Bureau.
Item VI ?– SAFETY GROCERY BAG PROJECT

Milwaukee Training Academy
Highlights:
CFNBA Friends of Jazz & Blues Johnsons Park will kick-off the Safety Grocery Bag Project on Earth Day at a conference for Middle School Students at the Police Academy.
During the next month, the project will allow competition, prizes, displays and discussion groups. Selections will be made in May, 2005. Prizes, displays and discussions will continue until Youth week of Jazz & Blues Johnson Park 2005.
Item VII ?– OPERATION SAFETY
Operation Safety is the year-long safety initiative of Campaign Neighborhood ?– CFNBA.. CFNBA Partners are:
Milwaukee Public Library
Milwaukee Police Department ?– Community Liaison (3-5-7 Districts)
Milwaukee County Sheriff Department ?– Community Facilitator
It is one of the tenets for ?“INNER-CITY SCAFFOLDING 2005?”.
It is designed to be a link-to-link coalition for information sharing, problem solving and empowerment of the citizenry in the Inner City.
It started October, 2004 as a Call for Order to increasing gang-like youth beatings taking place in Inner City Milwaukee. It is the outgrowth of the four(4) discussion meetings held in October/November, 2004. Some Events:
On Saturday, April 23, 2005, CFNBA will kick-off its Neighborhood Consultants Group. The group will consist of volunteers that have a minimum of one year experience as a Block Club Captain and/or as an Organizer.

April 13, 2005, CFNBA announced its partnership with STRIVE MEDIA INSTITUTE. Complimentary Membership was given and the representatives are: Ms. Krystal Hardy ?– Managing Editor, Ya?’ Heard and Ms. Rotonda Smith-Woods, Associate Director ?– Strive.
Emphasis is on how youth and young adults can provide leadership in Safety Prevention and Safety Intervention.
April 2, 2005, CFNBA donated the fruit refreshments and was an Exhibitor. Rafik Imseitef ?– Warehouse Electronics and Mary Glass ?– Chair/CEO.
CNBA is a partner in ?“Project Safe Neighborhood?” ?– Americas?’ Network Against Gun Violence national initiative.
Item VIII ?– REALITY CHECK SYMPOSIUM ?– March 29/30/31, 2005

Highlights:
The Discussion Groups format was the hit. Leaders and committed citizens of the neighborhood were most engaging, namely, Craig Wroten, Lead Organizer of Harambee Ombudsmen, Sylester Roberts ?– Entrepreneur and Jennifer Belle-Sharpe.
Police Chief Nannette Hegerty ?– Milwaukee Police Department presentation was informative, to the point, sensitive and on- target with the issues (Mr. Jude?’s beating ?– Police staff behavior ?– safety in our neighborhood and partnerships)
Her visit was cut short by a ?“call of emergency?” from her office. Therefore, questions, answers and discussion did not take place.
Director Sharon Robinson ?– Department of Administration was informative and provide broadbase discussion with issues. She brought Glen Mattison from Community Block Grant.
Ron Pounds, of IT/Information Technology ?– City of Milwaukee is part of the Department of Administration. He provided a ?“hands-on?” computer training in the library on How to Use the City Website which included the use of COMPASS Crime Data.
Mary Glass, Chair/CEO has been providing the IT Department with updates and recommendations for customer-friendly services.
The Kick-off session w/Debra Fifer ?– Gun?’s Initiative, Bonnie Jackson ?– Arms Around Amani Neighborhood Association, Officer Shellee Lubus ?– 7th District and City Attorney Stephen Adams were intricate speakers in the Discussion of issues and safety initiatives.
