"We have a duty to argue," said Attorney Gerry Spence. "It is the PRICE we pay for the space we occupy on this earth."
I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY
"WE HAVE A DUTY TO ARGUE" is the mantra of Campaign Neighborhood - CFNBA. It comes from the upbringing and everyday need seen by the founder of this organization - Mary Glass.
PRIVILEGE
It is a privilege that can gain RIGHTS in the pursuit of happiness.
It is a privilege that can gain ORDER where there is APATHY and DISORDER.
It is a privilege that speaks to the pursuit of quality of life and economic advantage in the Inner City of Milwaukee and across this world.
When we fail to argue. We fail ourselves. We fail our ancestors. We fail our neighborhood. We fail to change the "negatives" to "positives" in our neighborhoods. We fail to standup for what is rightfully ours. "We fail our children and our children's children. WE FAIL HUMANITY.
THE ART OF ARGUMENT
The art of argument is something that comes with experience and passion. It is a POWERFUL TOOL for leveraging.
Passionate people on behalf of justice have help to make the world what it is today by argument -- Martin Luther King, Harriet Tubman, Mother Teresa, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Nelson Mandela, Booker T. Washington, Minister Louis Farrakhan, Attorney Johnnie Cockran, Bishop Desmond TuTu, Dr. Angela Davis, Dr. Cornel West, Coretta Scott King, Malcolm X, Rev. Al Sharpton, Merger Evers, Father James Groppi, Ozzie Davis, Mattibelle Woods, and Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm to name a few.
We especially have a DUTY to argue:
>>>when we witness an injustice.
>>>when we see human beings disrepected, exploited, denied due process, sterotyped, unjustly used-abused.
>>>when we see people of our race exploiting our conditions and race for their selfish gains.
>>>when we see politicians refusing to represent ALL the people.
>>>when we hear unjust statements.
We MUST NOT allow them to go unabated.
HOW DO I ARGUE?
You argue the truth.
You argue your "gut feeling".
You argue the golden rule.
You argue justice for ALL.
You argue the mistruth.
You argue the "law'.
You also argue with YOU!
CHALLENGE/COVENANT
The next time you hear something that fits within what has been said here, try your ARGUMENT ON.
Until the next time,
Mary
