What’s Happening in 92 . . . By CAO Terry Cooper

Jul 27, 2003

Just to give a little update on a few special projects that are being initiated in the 92 area. In the 922 beat (specifically Metro Center) our Neighborhood Enforcement Officers have partnered with the Auto Theft Detail, Street Crimes Unit, and Metro Center Security to combat the stolen vehicle and burglary from vehicle problem. Of course we can?’t give you specifics on the times or locations that we are working this project, but since we have been started working this area several arrests and interrogations have been made.

In the 923 and 924 beats, Officers Riley and Ramsey have started a project to target the Armed Robberies that occur on 19th Ave. between Cactus Rd. and Glendale Ave. They are advising businesses in the area to utilize FAXNET ONE so they (FAXNET ONE) can fax you information on crime trends and/or suspects descriptions. The phone number to FAXNET ONE is (602) 3203071. Ask for Peggy or Kay.

Did you know the 921 beat has a ?“FIGHTBACK?”? The boundaries of the Alta Vista Fightback are from 27th Ave. to 35th Ave. / Northern to Dunlap. This is a Council District One Fightback, which means Councilman Siebert has designated $90,000.00 to do neighborhood improvements in this area. The Fightback is in the planning stage soooo if you live in the area I would encourage you to climb aboard and get involved in this endeavor by attending the meetings and join a committee. The next meeting is on March 28th at 6:30 p.m. at Cortez High School Cafeteria, 3100 W. Dunlap Ave. Officer Steve Morton is coordinating the project for the police department. . . ☻
