To Mentally Challenged
When you chose to support your Public schools you are also supporting a school system that has to accept the ''mentally and physically challenged students''. Do the Parochial Schools accept these students? NOT!
These students are enrolled in Special Ed. Not a part of the Parochial School agenda. They will not take them. Our Public Schools take a significant responsibility to teach and manage the care of these unfortunate kids. They hire teachers, and aids that give these kids the opportunity to get their education. Many of them need constant care that requires and aid to be with them all day.
This does not come without the expense of hiring the teachers and aids. If you had a child with special needs how would you send them to your Parochial School? Don't discount the value a quality school system like Olentangy has to offer to our community.
Yes the ''retarded'' are in our school system, and God bless the support we the taxpayers give them.
Our Public School System offers a very quality education for all the people who may not be able to afford the tuition to send their kids to a private school.
I want the best for my children, and have no concerns about quality of education they are getting at Olentangy now. If we want to continue that quality, we must continue to pay.
I went to Parochial School. My sister teaches at a Parochial School and is quitting her job after this year because the Principle cannot control the discipline in the shool she works.
The blanket statement made by the previous poster about ''Rapes'' etc.. Will never be able to prove that those things have never happened in a Parochial school.
