Here is a letter I wrote to Senator Boxer.
Dear Senator,
The State of Calif. is engaged in an insideous campaign which results in the lowering of middle class property values. It seems that inmates with social adjustment and criminal problems are being housed in neighborhoods under the color of the state's authority. and without the consultations of local politicians or citizens. This has recently occurred in our Upper Hastings neighborhood. We had a civic meeting, but it was after the fact. Nothing was accomplished, save to leave a very sour taste and a feeling that we, the middle class, were being marginalized once again.
The whole endeavor smacks of unethicality . The person, who surrepticiously bought the property, has been given $100,000 plus $5000 per inmate per month by the state. In the meantime, his neighbors have lost a substantial amount of property value.
Senator, could you please address this problem?
Sincerely,
C.M. Magallanes, MA.Ed. Adm
