UPDATE FROM JOE VOGT

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy new year.
I know it will be a great year for the Business Improvement Association. The Business Improvement District(BID) is very excited about the changes that have taken place to date. For those of you who are not aware of what changes have been made, I would like to take a moment to share some of these changes. Flower pots have been purchased and placed along Sherman Way (from Canoga to Jordan). The installation of new pots from Jordan to Topanga will be completed as soon as the Street Scape project is completed by the City this Summer. The Business Improvement Association has contracted with the Hollywood Beatification Team to provide services such as alley cleaning, sidewalk power washing, weed abatement, tree trimming, cleaning of trash containers and street benches, graffiti removal and the servicing of our new flower pots. This is just the beginning. There is much more to come.
If you would like to know more about the additional changes we have planned, please join us at one of our board meetings. I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce and welcome Vicki Gilkey, CPBIA Project Manager. She has been hired by the CPBIA to run the everyday activities that take place it our BID area. You can stop by the Canoga Park Improvement Association's office located at 21500 Wyandotte Street, Suite 120, in Canoga Park.

I would also like to take a moment to introduce you to your Board of Directors and to thank each one of them for their hard work in the formation and implementing of the PBID: Vice President-Bud Berquist; Secretary-Leslie Lambert; Treasurer-Miguel Fernandez; Board Members - Nancy Bergquist, Paul Lewin, Rephael Badillo, Bill Schneberg and Anthony Falcone.


THE NATIONAL MAIN STREET PROGRAM UPDATE:

Earlier this month the Canoga Park Business Owners, Property Owners, Business Improvement Association, Chamber Members and Residents met for three days with the National Trust's Main Street Center and the Local Initiative Support Corporation. The purpose of this meeting was to assess the current revitalization efforts in Canoga Park in order to find out if a transition to a Main Street organization, utilizing a comprehensive, community driven 4 Point Approach, would be beneficial given the existing efforts and organizations in place. In addition, the goal was to see if this transition would eliminate future problems likely to occur given the current direction. Another reason for this meeting was to assess whether the Main Street Approach could help Canoga Park to take better advantages of its current strengths and future opportunities while addressing current weaknesses and future threats to the revitalization efforts. The Consultants from both organizations gave us several recommendations to help us move forward at complimenting a Main Street Program in Canoga Park. This was very exciting for all those who participated and we will keep you informed of the progress and future meetings. OTHER "CHANGES" ON THE HORIZON FOR CANOGA PARK:

The balance of the Street Scape and Pedestrian Lighting will be completed this Summer. This will include Sherman Way between Jordan and Topanga; and on Owensmounth between Gault and Wyandotte.
The CRA will continue the Facade Program on the south side of Sherman Way between Remet and Owensmouth and Alabama to Canoga. The Board of Directors, on behalf of the Property Owners, would like to thank Leslie Lambert, Project Manager for the CRA, for her continuing hard work in improving our community.

The Board of Directors' meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the month at 21500 Wyandotte St, #120 at 5:30 p.m.
