CANOGA PARK IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION'S MISSION STATEMENT

The Canoga Park Improvement Association's mission is to revitalize the business district of Downtown Canoga Park and the surrounding community by providing goods, services and leadership; maintaining and enhancing the streets and current business structures along the targeted Sherman Way corridor; attracting new businesses to downtown Canoga Park.

GOALS:
1) Improve the security and image of security of Canoga Park.
2) Provide landscaping and general maintenance to the targeted area of Canoga Park to make it cleaner and more pleasant than it has ever been.
3) Market and promote the value of participation in the activities of Downtown Canoga Park.
4) Raise additional money to be used in improving and promoting Downtown Canoga Park through sponsorships and or fundraising events.
5) Help Canoga Park to become a national / California Main Street Business District.
6) Strengthen the business and property values in the targeted area as well as the surrounding community.
7) Provide a means for the interchange of ideas, needs and goals between the business community and the private community; to bring together the various organizations, businesses & neighborhoods.

CURRENT OBJECTIVES:

1) Improve the landscaping in the Business Improvement
District's targeted area.
2) Work with the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA)on the fa?§ade enhancements along Sherman Way plus the street and sidewalk improvements on Sherman Way and Owensmouth.
3) Clean up and maintain the Business Improvement District's targeted area, including the alleys.
4) Work with the city in getting our alleys repaved.
5) Improve the security in the Business District and the surrounding community of Canoga Park by aligning with our local Police Department and instituting several neighborhood watch campaigns.
6) Form a Community Focus Group made up of Property Owners,Business Owners and Community Residents for feedback and ideas.
7) Align with our Government Agencies for the improvement of Canoga Park.
8) Increase the active membership on the CPIA Board.
9) General organization and raising of public awareness as to the activities of the CPIA Board.


LONG TERM OBJECTIVES:

1) Unify the businesses in the targeted area in order to build support and move forward together in the growth of Canoga Park.
2) Meet and align with the other various organizations in Canoga Park.
3) Create at least one major fundraising event to raise money for other programs and promote Canoga Park.
4) Find Sponsorships for holiday lighting and decorations along Sherman Way.
5) Make Downtown Canoga Park more pedestrian friendly.
6) Attract new businesses to the downtown area that will meet the needs of our community and surrounding communities.
7) Apply and implement a California Main Street program.
8) Expand the Business Improvement District boundaries to included East to Desoto Ave and West to Shoup Ave along Sherman Way.
