Re: What will it cost us?

Dave,

The new web site will have everything this site has plus a lot of things that this site does not offer.

The Board is researching the costs involved.

The webaddress you posted was the same address brought up at a meeting that I attended last year... www.westpointresidents.com, has been saying ''Coming Soon'' on it for more than a year now...I have been checking and checking to see if it has been activated and it never is...I sure hope that we are not paying for this webspace that has had NOTHING done to it for more than a year...
That would not look good...
But I tell what I would like to see...bigger playgrounds and more picnic tables...how about volleyball and basketball courts...I think to many kids are playing in the streets which is not safe, if there was a ''nicer'' playground maybe families would use it more...!

Max,

You are correct. Last year, the Board of Directors voted to purchase the domain name 'westpointresidents.com'. The Board got a huge discount on the name and has the rights to that domain name for 10 years.

Once the domian name was purchased, it was ''parked''. Parking a domian name means that it stored on a computer somewhere, but there are no pages associated with the site. The ''Coming Soon'' page is a default page provided by Go Daddy when someone purchases a domian name from them. There are no fees or charges to ''park'' a domain name. Once a web site is created and associated with that domain name, then you must pay a ''hosting'' fee. Since we don't have a site yet, there is not fee.

After purchasing the domain name, the Board of Directors at the time decided not to proceed with creating the web site, even though we had bought the domain name.

The current Board of Directors sees the value in having our own official web site and has decided to proceed with implementing it.
