October 8th Capitol East neighborhood will be part of a community weatherization project sponsored by Rebuilding Together Greater Des Moines.
The project includes:
Caulking around windows and doors
Weather stripping around windows and doors
Installing door sweeps
Installing plastic window film
Filling/sealing small holes in sidewalls or foundation
Insulating hot water pipes
Blanketing hot water heaters
Installing energy efficient light bulbs
Recycling old appliances
Furnance filter replacement
Furnance clean and service
Home Energy Audit through MidAmerican Energy
Information on Low-Cost and No-Cost energy reduction practices
How to workshops for the do-it-yourselfer
