CRRA Zoning/Planning Committee Meeting
April 9, 2007
Attending: Marilyn Barbera, Marshall Hevron, Cindy Morse, John Schackai, Jerry Speir
Action Items:
John will begin a preliminary discussion with Councilwoman Midura?¡?¦s office about our concerns with the Light Industrial zoning of Leake Avenue, particularly re the possibility of limiting industrial uses and heights. Cindy will talk to Sheldon Hersh about Uptown Triangle's experience with related zoning issues.
John will check on whether HDLC has cited owners of the former Whitney Bank at Oak and Carrollton re Carrollton Overlay violations with their signage.
Marilyn will ask Safety and Permits to give us a status report on issues with Mona's awning.
We discussed projects to include in our ?¡?§top priorities?¡?¨ list in the post-UNOP planning process, perhaps in collaboration with other associations in the area through the Carrollton Area Network. Monticello Canal flooding issues, re-paving Oak Street (and related infrastructure repairs), revitalizing Priestley School, and promoting the Leake Avenue study (which is mentioned in the UNOP for our district) were discussed. We should bring
this to our board meeting on the 23d for prioritizing.
John reported on the Walgreen?¡?¦s/Robert?¡?¦s development at Claiborne and Carrollton; projected to open together in the fall of ?¡?¦07. New Chase Bank plans for the same intersection will be revealed on Thursday evening.
Jerry reported on progress with the ABO agreement with the parties opening a new restaurant at the site of the former Gennaro's cleaners. Almost complete.
