Castlegate Community

Self Reliance

Posted in: Castlegate

This neighborhood is beset with problems that will prove difficult for any individual to solve.  I hope the activists who are so disgruntled with the current board of directors and management company will do more than just talk.  Stand for election, run a campaign and see if you can motivate the 95% of homeowners who don't seem to care.

In the meantime how about a little community activism in the form of some personal work.  Knock down the yard weeds in the empty house next door before they go to seed, run your mower over 'em!  Put some water on those annual plants so they don't die.  Roundup ain't cheep but it works good.  Show your neighbors how to use it.  How about a bit of help picking the trash off of the roads or sweeping rocks back into yards.   Move your lazy neighbor's trash can back for them.  Take the messy flyers off of the mailboxes.   That is how individuals can make a difference in our neighborhood.  Who knows, your example may motivate others.

I haven't cleaned up Ocotillo Rd for a few months just to see if somebody else would... suprise, suprise!  I'll be out there early Saturday (5/2) morning and I hope to see that the talkers can do more than just talk.

I am not sure how long you have lived in this community, but last year we had a weed pulling.  There was 6? of us.  Yes I was one of them.  My hands hurt, my knees hurt my back hurt, but my feelings hurt the most.  Out of over 1300 homes and 6 people show up, sad very sad.  I surely hope you were one of us.

I can only speak for myself, but I do walk the walk.  I have made sudjestons on how to keep our community informed on meetings, community clean ups and what is being done about the neighbors weeds, the car parked nn the rocks other violations, but all of these have been ignored.

Sounds like your clean up of Ocotillo Rd is not reconized, I would like to thank you for your time and efforts.  It becomes very difficult to spend hours cleaning up an area just to find it hours later littered with trash again.

At last nights meeting the Board had a few issues where people in this communty could volunteer to morter blocks from a falling wall, there are a couple more issues again asking for volunteers, rather than spending money to hire a contractor. Did you happen to make last nights meeting ?
