Continued tradition of an enjoyable evening supporting law enforcement efforts.
Once again, about 250 people gathered at Todd Ware Park to attend the CHNA celebration of National Night Out. There was plenty of fun, food and fellowship for all in attendance. In addition to the fantastic music variety provided by the Music Machine (Mr. Gil Favela) and the free paletas (frozen fruit bars), cookies, brownies and Krispy Kreme donuts, Mr. Ben Avalos coordinated activities for the children - everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. This was also a great chance to meet with officers from the El Paso Police Department's Northeast Regional Command Center, the El Paso Police Auto Theft Task Force, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations, the El Paso Fire Department, our local Constable, Justice of the Peace for Precinct #2, the El Paso Independent School District Police Department, and new business member Sun City Security Service, Inc. Once again, Flags Across America provided the large American flag on display by station #16 of the El Paso Fire Deparment.
The weather cooperated, resulting in a cooler evening than recently experienced and the rain earlier in the day gave way to sun shine with gentle breezes. Perfect conditions for meeting new neighbors and catching up with old friends. CHNA wearables (polo shirts, T-shirts, hats and visors) were available for purchase and everyone had the opportunity to join or renew their membership in the Castner Heights Neighborhood Association.
All this would not have been possible without the support of City Representative for District #4 Carl Robinson, Able Olivas from Albertson's on Dyer, Krispy Kreme, Stars of the Sun #6, State Farm Agent James Cuilty, the fine folks from our local Walgreen's, Mary Cano and the sraff and students of Western Tech, and the team at White Sands Federal Credity Union supporting our event wtih donations. Thanks to all.
