There is a dangerous but rare disease known as Guillian barre' . It is a paralyzing disease that catches you off guard. You can get it just by taking the fly shot, particularly the swine flu shot. I have a 52 year old sister who was very active, that was feeling very tired, one day she went to the doctor and he gave her the flu shot, next thing she knew she had (GBS) and found herself laying flat on her back in a nursing home not able to swallow her food or walk, she is having lots of pain and having to learn how to walk and talk again because her speech is slurred because of the GBS. I would not advize anyone to take the flu shot, you would be better off getting the flu. GBS attacks the central nervous system and it robs you of your whole lifestyle, it takes a long time to recover from this disease. The family has shed many tears with my sister. She says we do not understand her pain or the disease. She is right, we do not understand, GBS. My advise to any family that has been affected by this crippling disease is to go into the Mayo Clinic website and study on it. Learn about it. It will ease some of the frustration. It hurts to see a family member who suffers from this ailment. There is no cure for Guillian-Barre Syndrome and that to me is a sad fact of life. My suggestion to anyone that has to live with pain and physical therapy is to keep fighting, keep doing your physical therapy, don't give up, you are allowed to give out, but dont give up!
