Projects

Central Avenue Historic Streetscape will establish a commercial and cultural center for the area based on a jazz theme. Landscaping, streetscape elements, signage, and banners will be installed along Central Avenue between Vermont Ave. and 59th St.
Gateway Park calls for the acquisition of a gas station site on the corner of Jefferson Blvd. and Central Ave. This will provide an attractive "gateway" to the area and increase public recreational facilities.
Ralph Bunch Community Center Renovation will provide much-needed repairs to this historic facility/museum. The center will also provide services for the area's youth.
Central Avenue Constituent Services Center calls for the development of a civic/cultural center to provide constituent services to the community.
Commercial Rehabilitation Grants will assist business owners with fa?§ade improvements.
Housing Rehabilitation Homeownership Assistance provides grants to homeowners for improvements. Also assists home buyers with down payment funds.
Street Lighting Program will replace existing obsolete and deteriorated street lighting with a modern efficient system meeting City standards and resulting in decreased maintenance and repair costs, improved nighttime visibility and safety. Traffic signals will also be upgraded.
Community Clean-Up Program will provide for the continuing removal of graffiti and trash.
