Meeting Minutes April 26, 2008

Meeting came to order at 1:05 PM
• Meeting began with introductions around the room.
• Treasurer’s Report: $3,286.17 in savings account
• Neighborhood yard sale with BNA on June 21, 2008 9am to 3 pm. Discussion involved advertising, maps, flyers to promote event & balloons.
• Block Party: Discussion involved possible date of July 4, 2008, activities, & location.
• Zoning: Mostly R-1 with some mixed uses. It was reported that a new zoning ordinance should be in place.
• YMCA: The question was raised as to what to do with suggestions for the possible use of the old Y when it is vacated. Suggestions should be passed on to the current Board of Directors of the YMCA.
• Meetings: Question was asked how often CNA should meet. Majority felt once a month on a Saturday morning would work best.
• CNA would like to create a phone/email tree.
• A request was made to post the meeting minutes on the website.
• Discussion on Central School triangle park. Linda stated that she was in the planning stages with the city and parks regarding the triangle and that the plans include a 7’ marble fountain, bench and 4’ fencing. Cost to be approx. $25,000.
• Neighbor Duane mentioned a landscaping and clean up day scheduled for Central Elementary May 10 from 9 am to 2 pm.
• Neighbor Duane also informed the association of the Valpo Schools Community Forum which is in the planning stages of our area schools. Next meeting will be held on May 29 at BFMS at 7 pm. The community is encouraged to attend.
• Question was asked regarding dues for the association and possible fundraisers such as T-shirts for sale.
