I have been a Police Officer for Aurora for 5 years and have been assigned to the PAR unit since January of this year. I am very involved with kids, as I am a DARE instructor at Yale Elementary School and am a senior advisor for the Aurora Police Explorers, which is a program for people 15-21 that are interested in Law Enforcement. Prior to becoming a Police Officer, I was a college student at Winona State University, MN where I received my Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.
On the side of opinions/expectations, I feel that the only way to deal with crime in any area is to have all of the residents in that area have some ownership in dealing with the issues therein. My hope is that all of the residents will keep the blinds open a little later in the evening and keep their eyes open for what is going on in THEIR neighborhood. If everyone paid attention to the happenings in their neighborhood, a significant amount of crime could be prevented. I also take a very strong approach to dealing with violent and pattern crime in the area, by conducting operations and surveillance and filing cases against the suspects.
