Hello!
This is issue #2 of the Chaddsford Downs newsletter. I will be publishing it quarterly.
Following are the Minutes from the meeting Vern and I attended with the City of Aurora:
Meeting Notes
Chaddsford Downs
July 25, 2002
Those in attendance included: Chaddsford Downs Fence Committee representatives: Vern Veer, Josie Osborn; HDR representatives: Karen Creamer, Terrance Powers; City of Aurora representatives: Cesar Sanchez, Duane Launder, Bob Schmalzer, Mary Avgerinos.
Terrance Powers reported on the status of the fence design, explaining that 50% of the plan had been submitted.
The Fence Committee said that they prefer entryway treatment for the fence to curve down gradually from 8?’ to 3?’6?”. At the entryway locations where the fence will span past any front yards, the fence will need to be 3?’6?” due to City regulations.
Vern Veer confirmed that he will be creating the entryway signs for the fence and he will seek input from other neighbors to determine where, specifically, the signs should be placed.
The Fence Committee asked if a gate could be installed within the fence at Yale and Buckley, but the design team replied that this would not be possible. The fence at this entryway point will be 8?’ and follow along the existing fence.
The Harvard and Buckley entryway fence will be 6?’ to tie into the existing wood fence. There is a need to place the fence into private property along Yale and Buckley approximately 2?” and for the pilasters, 10?”. Consequently, we will need easements from the property owners in the amount of approximately 1?’6?” along the perimeter. Bob Schmalzer will develop the legal descriptions and prepare the necessary easements.
The Fence Committee expressed the desire to pave, with a decorative stamp (concrete) treatment, along the perimeter fence on Buckley. The City asked if the neighborhood representatives would put the request in writing.
The possibility of installing additional landscaping at certain key entryway points was discussed. It was explained that an irrigation system would also need to be installed in order to maintain the landscaping, and the cost for landscaping and irrigation would be added into the final fence assessment. Also, an additional maintenance fee would be established that would include maintenance costs for the fence and any landscaping that would be installed as well as snow removal and insurance.
The Fence Committee said that they would consider what color of brick will be chosen for the fence and will let the City know of their choice. They also said that they wish wall caps to be used on the pilasters. The fence design should be 90% complete by early September. Consequently, we agreed to meet again on September 19, 2002 at 3:00 PM.
Also, on Monday, August 19th, Vern held a neighborhood meeting at his home. We had a pretty good turn out. There were 12 homeowners also, Duane Launder and Mary Avgerinos from the City were kind enough to attend.
We brought newcomers up to date with the program and addressed many questions, which were answered by Duane and Mary. Thank you Herman & Cheryl Griffin, Norma & Bob Tyler, Matt Narajka, Muriel Holmes, George & Kim Markling, Karen & Dave Nelson, Tim Pitts, Roberto Isaac, Colette Kolar & Johnnie Chism, for attending the meeting. A special thanks to Vern and his wife, Pat, for opening their home to us for the meeting. Pat bakes wonderful cookies!
