Message from President, William Kennebrew

Hello neighbors! I certainly hope you have had a very pleasant summer. It is time for us to
get back to work and strengthen our community in all areas. It sometimes seems as if we have
run out of ideas on how we can improve our own community, but there are many ways which
we have not yet addressed.

There are neighbors out there who have never attended a meeting and they just might have the
answer.

Please join us for our first meeting from the summer break on Monday, September 13 at
Peyton Forest Elementary at 7pm. Please come prepared to share your ideas about other
things we can do to make our community better and more productive. Looking forward to
seeing you!

Get involved! Remember, it's not just your right to live in a good neighborhood, it's your re-
sponsibility.

Join the Court Watch Program

Are you curious about what happens to individuals who create problems for our community and end up being a
part of the criminal justice system? Here is an opportunity to satisfy that curiosity, learn about court proceedings
and potentially influence the outcome of a case. On November 29,2010 at 9:00 a.m., defendant William Howard
Davis will go on trial for the murder of our neighbor, Mr. McGuire.

Your presence at this trial would indicate that you care about your community and that you do not wish to tolerate
such criminal activity. Join the Court Watch program. For further information, please contact Mrs. Janet Martin at
404-699-5297 or email Courtwatch@fultoncountyga.gov.

From the Security Committee
Jerry Martin, Chair

Since our neighborhood joined the Village Defense network this past April, we have enjoyed a significant reduction in
crime. There was an 80% reduction of crime for the month of July compared to last year. There was only one crime in the
neighborhood which occurred on Peyton Road. Maybe the criminals are seeing the few Village Defense signs scattered
around the neighborhood and realize that they might as well stay away.

The Village Defense organization is so committed to providing service to all of our neighbors that they have announced a
drastic reduction in membership fees. The new membership fee is $1.00 per month. Remember, the original fee was $6.00
per month.

Since there has been an 80% reduction in the crime in our neighborhood, we need to set a goal of zero crimes. I believe that
this can be achieved if we have 100% participation by having a sign in each yard. If each yard has a sign, then it might be
possible that no one in the neighborhood will be victimized by criminals. It is certainly affordable. It only cost $1.00 per
month. This is much less that the cost of making repairs and replacing stolen items from your homes.

Don't delay, please call Village Defense today and sign up at 678-608-4656. And remember to have situational awareness
by being aware of what is going on around you, look out for your neighbors. Thanks,

Save The Date!

Block Party Time!

Saturday, October 30,2010 is the date of our annual block party. You don't want to miss it! This year promises to be bigger and better
than before. Come and get to know your neighbors. It's a family affair. Bring the children ,grandchildren, aunts ,uncles nieces and neph-
ews. There will be music, food, games and fun activities for all ages.

Please notify your block captain of any news you wish to appear in the newsletter!

Community Pride in Action

Special thanks to Mr. Leroy Ware on Cativo Drive and Mr. Maurice Cook on Peyton Woods Trail. These two
neighbors graciously volunteered to wack the weeds, cut the grass and trim the shrubbery on the grounds of

a vacant house in the community. The grass had grown thigh high! They used their own equipment and whis-
tled while they worked! To quote Mr. Ware, "It just takes a handful of pride." Thank God for great neighbors like
Mr. Ware and Mr. Cook.

Let us all take a handful of pride in our wonderful neighborhood.
